Exercise for weight loss
The minute that you mention to anyone that you wish to lose weight the first thing that they usually say to you is that you will need to go on a diet and start to exercise.

Now let me give you a hint as to which is really better. Exercise has been found to only contribute about 15% towards your weight loss. That means that unless you are planning to enter a beauty pageant where every little bit counts, exercise is really not such a big factor in weight loss at all.

The main purpose of exercising while trying to lose weight is to add tone to your muscle so that you do not appear all flabby once you have lost weight. The second purpose is that exercise will increase your metabolic rate slightly so that you  do burn fat off slightly faster.

Increasing exercise for the average person.

For the average person like you and me, merely through increasing daily physical activities slightly is sufficient to provide the increase in exercise required to keep your body in shape.

Taking a walk in the evenings or even just doing some extra house work can be suffcient exercise. In fact there are so many ways to increase your physical activity without joining a gym or going jogging every morning.

Playing with the kids for 10 minutes a day or even using the stairs instead of the elevator. Parking further away at tha mall so you need to walk that little further to get to the shops. Jump off the bus at the stop before your normal stop and walk that little further.

Setting a little time aside to walk that little bit not only helps to increase your exercise but may also help you to reduce stress and to become more focussed in what you are doing.
